PU FOAM

Introduction:

The foam is the "invisible support layer" of a cow mattress. While it doesn't directly contact the cow, it determines the upper limit of lying comfort.

Between the rubber layer and the ground, the foam plays a crucial role in cushioning and shock absorption. When a cow lies down, its weight is transferred through the rubber layer to the foam. The foam absorbs the impact through its own compression, reducing pressure on the cow's knees, elbows, and hips, allowing the cow to lie down longer and more relaxed.

Studies show that for every additional hour spent lying down, milk production can increase by 0.8–1.5 kg. A good foam mat is one of the key factors that makes cows "willing to lie down and lie down for longer."

Product Introduction

Dongxing Rubber’s foam is specifically designed for cattle bedding systems. Lay beneath the rubber layer, it provides core cushioning and shock absorption.

The foam surface is tightly wrapped with a 120-micron plastic film (150-micron optional), effectively preventing urine and flushing water from seeping in, keeping the inside of the foam dry, preventing mold and bacterial growth, and extending the overall lifespan of the bedding.

The bottom features a sloping structure (a unique advantage of Dongxing), creating a gentle drainage slope at the bottom of the foam. Urine and flushing water can drain naturally along the slope, preventing liquid accumulation beneath the bedding, reducing ammonia production, and keeping the bedding area dry and hygienic.

The foam can be customized to meet specific needs—various thicknesses, densities, and sizes are available to suit different pasture ground conditions and cattle weights.

Dongxing Rubber’s foam—provides better cushioning, supporting longer lying time for dairy cows; with a more optimized structure, it keeps the bedding area consistently dry.

Core advantages

  • Sloping Drainage Design: The sloping bottom structure of the Foam allows urine and flushing water to drain naturally along the slope, preventing liquid accumulation beneath the bedding layer and reducing ammonia and bacterial growth.

  • Multiple Specifications, Customized to Demand: Thickness, density, and size are flexibly adjustable to suit different cattle weights and ground conditions, meeting the laying needs of various farms.

  • Matching Supply with Rubber Layer, One-Stop Procurement: The foam and rubber layer are supplied as a matching set, ensuring precise size matching and consistent performance, reducing communication and time costs associated with multiple procurement efforts.

  • High-Density PU Foam Material, Durable Rebound: The foam has uniform density, resists collapse over long-term use, and provides stable and reliable cushioning performance, effectively protecting the cow's joints.

  • Plastic Film Wrapping: The outer layer uses a brand-new 120-micron (150-micron optional) plastic film, effectively blocking liquid penetration, keeping the inside of the foam dry for a long time, and preventing mold and bacterial growth.

  • Vacuum-sealed individual packaging for convenient storage and transportation: Each foam sheet is individually sealed in a vacuum-sealed bag, which is moisture-proof and dust-proof. The reduced size makes it easy to store and transport over long distances, reducing the risk of damage.

Application Scenarios

In the lying area, dairy cows spend over 12 hours per day resting. The firmness of the flooring system directly affects their lying comfort, rumination behavior, and joint health.

Dongxing Rubber's foam is designed as the cushioning layer of the cow mattress system, installed beneath the rubber cow mattress. Together, the two layers form a composite flooring structure. The upper rubber layer provides a stable, non-slip standing and lying surface with good abrasion resistance; the lower foam layer absorbs dynamic impact forces generated during rising and lying down through compression deformation, effectively distributing pressure on the hips, knees, and hooves, thereby reducing the risk of bursitis and sole ulcers caused by prolonged contact with hard surfaces.

The two layers work in synergy to adjust the firmness of the lying surface to a range suitable for extended resting, minimizing resistance during rising and lying movements and supporting longer lying times, which in turn helps maintain normal feeding and rumination rhythms.

FAQ

Q1. How does the density of the foam affect its performance?

Density determines the softness, firmness, and support of the foam. 180g/cm³ is softer and suitable for lighter-weight animals or areas requiring ultimate comfort; 200g/cm³ provides stronger support and is suitable for heavier animals or areas with higher usage frequency. Both densities are proven solutions and can be selected according to your needs.

Q2. Will the foam mold in high humidity environments?

The foam itself does not have anti-mold properties. Therefore, "Dongxing Rubber" foam is completely sealed with a new plastic film, 120 microns thick, to effectively prevent moisture and liquid penetration. In high-humidity or frequently washed ranch environments, a 150-micron thicker film is available to further enhance moisture resistance.

Q3. Does the sloping design affect the foam's load-bearing capacity?

No. The slope is located at the bottom of the foam, does not change the main structure of the foam, and does not affect its pressure-bearing and cushioning performance. The drainage slope has been structurally calculated to ensure smooth drainage and maintain the overall uniformity of the foam's support, preventing localized excessive compression.
